This coffee/tea set, themed after The Nutcracker, a famous ballet by the great P. Tchaikovsky, is a true work of art! The ballet is based on E. T. A. Hoffmann's fairy tale, entitled, "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King," and its libretto was written by Marius Petipa. The ballet premiered in December 1892 in Saint Petersburg's Mariinsky Theater. Being a children's fairy tale, we are used to perceiving The Nutcracker as a Christmas time magical tale, but behind the virtuous musical imagery and the beauty of masterful execution of all the moves, lies very deep philosophical meaning. The tale is set in the winter which, according to most myths, is analogous with death and motionless life, but also preparation for rebirth and the start of something completely new. Winter is a natural pause in the chain of events that make up a process, called life, a timeless pause, allowing for the regain of strength and for the correction of past mistakes, contemplating the eternal questions of the Universe, and the infinite essence of oneself. And in the end, are these not the most important aspects of the Universe's grandest experiment, called life, where the euphoria of the majestic process of existing, coincides with the nobly-dignified plight of infinite nothingness?
